Approaches to Environmental Scanning - Intro

Approaches to Environmental Scanning dives into methods for preparing a group to do further work, such as strategic planning or making significant decisions. Environmental scanning can include relevant factual review as well as subjective data such as customer, staff or community perceptions. Environmental scanning preceding a planning process can strengthen later sessions by gathering information about real and perceived needs. When done as part of a group process, it helps the group get "on the same page" to begin its work.
 
The Approaches to Environmental Scanning course covers 10 different ways to do a scan with a client, including hands-on practice and conversations for matching approach and situation.
 
The course at our Annual Gathering – this course is given for ToP Qualified and Mentor trainers only in order to do two things: finalize the vetting process to be able to roll out the course in 2014 and 2) to give trainers enough background that they can begin to offer and train it as soon as it becomes an official ICA course.

*A policy has been adopted through which new courses are created, vetted and adopted into the ICA curriculum.  This course was developed a number of years ago to expand on the options mentioned in the ToP Strategic Planning course. Since then, it has been offered multiple times in Denver, Minneapolis, San Diego and Chicago.
